Every acquisition follows a rigorous protocol: documented chain of custody, cryptographic integrity verification on every artefact, certification with a timestamp enforceable against third parties. The result is a technical case file that holds up in court. We serve as Expert Witness (CTP) alongside your attorney or as independent consultants for internal investigations.

Why choose this service

Guaranteed legal standing

Every acquisition is sealed with a certified timestamp enforceable against third parties. Not a screenshot, but evidence that holds up in court.

Evidence before it vanishes

A video can be taken down, a post deleted, a website changed. Forensic acquisition preserves the content in its current state, with a certified timestamp.

Case file ready for your lawyer

Acquisition report, cryptographic hashes, certified timestamp, metadata: everything your attorney needs to submit the evidence in court.

Why a screenshot is not enough

Have you ever tried to present a screenshot as evidence in court? A judge can reject it: it does not prove when it was taken, whether the content was altered, or that the page actually looked that way at that moment.

Forensic acquisition is an entirely different process. Every piece of digital content is downloaded, verified and sealed through a procedure that guarantees:

  • Integrity: cryptographic hashes calculated on every single acquired file
  • Certified timestamp: cryptographic certification with date and time enforceable against third parties, issued by an accredited authority
  • Traceability: acquisition report documenting who did what, when, from where and with which tools
  • Reproducibility: the procedure is documented in detail so that an independent expert can verify it

How we work

We do not take shortcuts. Every acquisition follows a protocol built to hold up in court.

1

Assessment

We analyse what needs to be acquired, where it is located and how urgently. We define the scope and the acquisition strategy.

2

Acquisition

We carry out the acquisition using dedicated tools. Every artefact is downloaded in its original form, without alterations.

3

Hashing

We calculate a cryptographic hash for every acquired file and an aggregate hash for the entire session. Any future modification would be detectable.

4

Certified timestamp

The aggregate hash is sealed with a certified timestamp issued by an accredited authority. This attests in an enforceable manner when the acquisition was performed.

5

Acquisition report

We draft a structured acquisition report covering the operating environment, tools used, operations performed, hashes and certified timestamp. A document that speaks for itself.

6

Delivery

We deliver the complete case file: original artefacts, hashes, certified timestamp, acquisition report and technical opinion. Everything in an encrypted archive with verifiable integrity.

Expert Witness (CTP)

When digital evidence ends up in court, you need someone who can explain to the judge why that evidence is reliable, or why the opposing party’s evidence is not.

We serve as Expert Witness (CTP) alongside your attorney in:

  • Civil cases: online defamation, unfair competition, copyright infringement, contractual disputes
  • Criminal cases: computer fraud, unauthorised access, cyberstalking, offences against individuals committed online
  • Employment disputes: disloyal employees, NDA violations, misuse of company resources
  • Arbitrations and mediations: production and analysis of digital evidence in out-of-court proceedings

Under Italian law, the Expert Witness (CTP) does not require registration with specific professional boards: the CTP is a trusted professional chosen by the party for their technical expertise.

Ongoing acquisitions

Some cases require monitoring content over time: verifying that it is still online, documenting changes, recording variations in metrics. For these scenarios we offer scheduled acquisitions - daily, weekly or on demand - with the same rigour as the initial acquisition and the convenience of an automated process.

Each session produces a standalone report, linked to previous ones through references in the chain of custody. The result is a case file that reconstructs the entire evolution of the content over time.

What we deliver

  • Original artefacts: acquired files in their native form (video, HTML, metadata, screenshots)
  • Cryptographic hashes: for every single artefact and aggregate hash for the session
  • Certified timestamp: issued by an accredited authority, enforceable against third parties
  • Acquisition report: structured document with all details of the procedure
  • Technical opinion: if requested, a narrative expert report written to be understood by a non-technical judge
  • Encrypted archive: all materials in a protected archive with verifiable integrity

When you need a forensic acquisition

Do not wait for the content to be removed. If you are considering legal action and the evidence is online, the right time to acquire it is now.

Typical cases:

  • A competitor publishes defamatory content about your company
  • A former employee has copied company data to personal cloud services
  • A video or a social media post infringes your intellectual property rights
  • You have suffered a cyber attack and need to preserve traces for filing a report
  • Your lawyer has asked you to “save that web page” before the trial
